Static pages for Open Square: Knowledge without Boundaries

Open Square is NYU Press’s platform for publishing and reading open access books. It is comprised of static HTML pages used for the home page, subject pages, book details, etc; a Javascript search application; and the book-reading application itself.

This repo holds the content, configurations, and theme for the static pages. It uses Hugo (https://gohugo.io/), the world’s fastest framework for building websites.

Installation

Install GoLang (needed because we use modules here)

• brew install go

Install Hugo

• brew install hugo

Build

To build: use the hugo command, with the -e (environment) option, and one of the environments set up in config directory. To get the latest remote info, use the ignoreCache flag. For example

• hugo --ignoreCache -e local
• hugo --ignoreCache -e dev
• hugo --ignoreCache -e stage
• hugo -e production
• hugo --ignoreCache -e production

For hugo server hugo server --ignoreCache -e local To build with exact files (may not be necessary, since you can use hugo command for that. )

• hugo server -b "http://localhost/opensquare/" --disableFastRender --ignoreCache --appendPort=false --disableLiveReload -e local
