NPSP Videography: How to Review Scripts

  • Put your name in shining lights! Please add your name on the top of the script under Reviewer. Also note that at the top, there is a link the NPSP Documentation each script is based on.

  • Get your own org. Follow along in a Salesforce org with NPSP installed. We recommend using a new install, as our videos show the base package only. You can sign up for a 30-day NPSP trial.

  • Note: you can’t reuse your own salesforce user name to sign up, but you just need to format the user name like an email, yourname+video@npspvideos.com, for example. Use a real email where the signup asks for Email, so you get the link to activate.

How to record edits: For copy edits, additions, and reworking the order of sentences, feel free to edit the text directly, no need to use track changes. If you have any questions or comments to record (ideas for how the walkthrough should flow welcome), please use Insert Comment. Please tag barbara@percolatorconsulting.com with any questions. If you feel the script needs a large changes, please copy the original script at the bottom of the document and then feel free to edit directly. This is just to help the Videography and Salesforce.org team follow the thread. Thanks!

What to look for: Before you get started: Please review the writing standards & style (Step 2 in the videography guide) and review a few of the existing videos to get a sense of our style. You can find a list of acceptable sample data here. Please verify each script uses it. If not, change names to match the sample data provided, or comment if you have questions. Review the documentation linked at the top of the script as needed. Each video is usually based on a single piece of documentation. Use your beginner’s/learner’s eye: Does the video flow in a way that makes sense to a totally new user/admin? Is there something missing that they wouldn’t understand? Be a director: Can you follow along easily with the script? Is there enough information in the script to follow along (keep in mind we will be showing steps on screen, so we might not need to say everything out loud, but we want to be sure even a person who can’t see the video has key information) Remember, this is not old school technical documentation...think Trailhead more than tedium :) Double check those first person plural “We”s one more time!

Pat yourself on the back and let barbara@percolatorconsulting.com or Barbara Christensen in the Power of Us Hub know you are done.

THANK YOU!
