Download and Extract

Setting up SnapKey is straightforward. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Download SnapKey:

   • Visit the SnapKey GitHub Releases Page and download the latest version of SnapKey.

2. Extract SnapKey:

   • Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a location of your choice.

   

Launch SnapKey

1. Open SnapKey:

   • Double-click the SnapKey executable (SnapKey.exe) to start the application.

   

2. Verify Operation:

   • SnapKey will appear in your system tray.
   • Ensure that the SnapKey icon is visible in the system tray, indicating that the application is running.

   

Using SnapKey

1. Verify Key Management:

   • Test the functionality by holding down one key (e.g., "A") and pressing the other (e.g., "D"). SnapKey should automatically release the first key and only keep the second key active.

2. Check Sticky Keys Feature:

   • Test Sticky Keys by holding one key (e.g., "A") and tapping the other key (e.g., "D"). Each press of "D" should temporarily override "A" while it's held down.

Disable or Exit SnapKey

1. Disable SnapKey

   • Right-click the SnapKey icon in the system tray and select "Disable SnapKey". This option disables the entire SnapKey functionality of the keys that are set in the config file while keeping the SnapKey process and the software running in the tray.

   

2. Exit SnapKey

   • Right-click the SnapKey icon in the system tray and select "Exit SnapKey"

   

By following these steps, you can effectively set up and customize SnapKey to enhance your keyboard input experience.

Start Menu Shortcut (Optional) - Add SnapKey to Start Menu

1. Create a Shortcut:

   • Locate SnapKey.exe in its folder.
   • Right-click it and select Create Shortcut.

2. Move the Shortcut:

   • Copy the shortcut.
   • Paste it into C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs.

3. Test It:

   • Open the Start Menu, search for SnapKey, and launch it to ensure it works.

AutoStart (Optional) - Set SnapKey to Start Automatically

1. Create a Shortcut:

   • Right-click SnapKey.exe in its folder.

   • Select Create shortcut.

     

   • (Optional) Rename the shortcut to "SnapKey" by right-clicking it and selecting Rename.

     

2. Open Startup Folder:

   • Press Win + R on your keyboard.
   • Type shell:startup and press Enter.
   

3. Add Shortcut to Startup:

   • Drag your SnapKey shortcut into the Startup folder.
   

That’s it! SnapKey will now start automatically when you log in.
