Reality is pretty large and complicated project, and our team is small. There's a lot of room for new developers, but don't expect much of "low-hanging fruits" here. Like Ruby itself, Reality is pretty complicated inside to be easy and fun to use outside.
So, if you feel brave enough to take part in a Reality development, here are some things you'll may be interested in:
- There are a list of issues in Reality's repo, which typically shows what we need to do right now (except for issues tagged with "idea");
- There is also some Roadmap in this wiki, helping to understand nearest steps;
- Overall, there are several directions Reality wants to develop in:
- More data from existing sources (Wikipedia and Wikidata) -- you may add Wikipedia parsers and Wikidata predicate descriptors;
- Also, large lists of data, disambiguation of concepts and smart search can and should be implemented;
- Better API for existing data;
- More robust and full-featured parser for Wikipedia (see infoboxer project for this; it has also a looot to improve);
- New datasources, like OpenStreetMap, OpenExchange, WorldBank, Wiktionary, and also specific datasources like CIA Factbook, NASA space data (like SPICE) should ALL eventually go into reality;
- Reality is in need of cool demo/showcase applications! Including visualisation, data analysis, integrating with existing systems and libraries and so on.
All in all, Reality: a) is complicated; b) is pretty interesting to work on; c) needs a lot of love, attention and proficiency.
