Hello friends!
Boilerplate has undergone some heavy refactoring. I wanted Boilerplate to be everything I need to start a Rails app and get straight to building the good stuff without having to get weighed down with configuring the boring stuff like authentication and mailers.
V1 was a shell of a Rails app that you could clone to kickstart your projects, but the problem was that this has zero flexibility, you still had devise config and templates even if you didn't need them.
Another drawback was that since this was built on template app, I'd have to keep updating it to stay in line with not only Rails releases, but releases of every gem that Boilerplate used.
V2 is a huge improvement on both these fronts. Firstly Boilerplate is now a command line tool to generate Rails apps! Secondly, it's now a gem, meaning this one package contains everything to kickstart your app, and lastly, Boilerplate is now broken up into "modules", so you can pick and choose which modules you want in your generated app.
Furthermore, this pattern is super flexible and customisable. I can keep adding modules, it makes the whole thing so much more maintainable.
Check the readme for more details!
