# AMI Auto Update for EKS via the Console

Cloud service provider relevance: EKS

You can either run an AMI auto-update immediately or schedule one. For both immediate and scheduled auto-update runs, you can include one or both of these options:

* Security patch updates: Once Ocean identifies that EKS released a security patch, update the nodes in the data plane managed by Ocean.

# Auto-Update Process (Ocean GKE)

Cloud service provider relevance: GKE

Ocean auto-updates to ensure that your clusters and virtual node groups (VNGs) always have an up-to-date configuration according to the respective GKE configuration in the control plane manager so that configuration changes made on the GKE cluster or node pools will be updated automatically to the Ocean configuration.

This feature provides a convenient user experience. It lets you quickly update specific GKE parameters, such as Kubernetes Version, NodeLocal DNSCaching, etc., directly and only once in your GKE console.

# Connect an Existing Cluster

We are currently changing the process of importing EKS clusters to Ocean, so we should also align the documentation with the new changes.

As these changes are currently in progress, we will publish the new page as a "hidden" document until it will be published for all customers.

The following should be updated on the Connect an Existing EKS Cluster page (This is an initial draft):

## Overview

Elastigroup and Ocean automatically revert existing instances using reserved capacity (RI) and savings plans (SP) to spot instances or other commitment deals wherever a reservation is needed elsewhere in your AWS account. This feature optimizes resource allocation and cost efficiency by continuously adjusting to dynamic environment needs.
