Since Arch makes heavy use of Google Cloud Storage (GCS) for data
storage, developing for Arch requires authenticating with
GCS. The first step in that process involves obtaining a Service
Account Key with the Storage Admin
permission. Please contact Sam or
Tyler if you need one generated for you.
Once you have a Service Account Key, rename it to gcskey.json
and
place it in the root directory of this repository. You could
technically put it anywhere, but it will make everything easier if you
just put it here (it will be ignored by git if you name it as
suggested). Finally, run the following script from this directory to
set the GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS
environment variable (on a mac):
sudo ./set_google_credentials.sh
This needs root permissions to modify the environment of all
applications. If you are developing with IntelliJ, for example, it
won’t read from ~/.profile
.
If you are on Windows/Linux, just set the environment variable
directly to the location of gcskey.json
. Do this through the windows
settings or by modifying `/etc/environment` on Linux.
