Conversion process phase: name provides suggestions and best practices for how to choose identifiers for a datasets's source, identifier, and version.

This page is a stub for less straightforward situations where the "source" is not clear.

SEC

The agency is U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, and the non-gov site I showed is http://viewerprototype1.com/viewer . It's for SEC's testing purpose, and it links to SEC's official site where you can download reporting data in XBRL format.

In my understanding, data used in this non-gov site has SEC's official site as their "source". SEC's official site also links to this non-gov site. Take the company "adobe systems" for example: http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0000796343&type=10-Q&dateb=&owner=exclude&count=40 , these "Voluntary Interactive Data" links will lead you to this non-gov site.
