We believe in use cases that drive adoption to the community, while being able to be used on similar use cases.

#### The needs behind this solution

As part of the initial research for formulating this solution proposal, we interviewed small event organizers and ticket sellers
(event promoters, mainly) in Colombia. As a result of those, we've come to some initial conclusions:

- Access to existing ticketing systems, implies **tying to** a SaaS-like solution (with upfront issuance costs) that usually have
organizers incurring in high comission fees (sometimes up to 15%~20%), due to the intermeditation; way beyond the bare infrastructure
costs, and
- **Delegating selling on third-parties** (like event promoters) was not easy.

By not using these services, they still have to rely on third-parties to expand selling channels, thus:

- **Organizers lose connection** with their audience, thus hardening conditions to invite them to follow up and create community.
- Also, in practice, **they lose control over selling parameters** (like minimum and maximum prices, or even control against overselling).
They can try controlling some of those via agreements with the third parties, but these agreements are still prone to fail.

In conclusion, stakeholders are interested in a model that allows them to incur almost no upfront costs (except deposits and fees).

We also found out that, as distribution/selling channels event organizers generally use social networks (i.e. WhatsApp, Instagram), event promoters and some
*"official selling points"*. While distribution is successfully achieved via these channels, this means organizers have to print tickets (incurring initial
costs), to mitigate overselling, but end up:

- Being vulnerable to fraudulent reselling and tickets forging.

When discussing the benefits of using our proposed solution with them, some organizers showed interest in the potential for attendees to resell on a secondary market
safely and how the reduction in fraud can improve their reputation, as well as the ease of handling the access to the event via a mobile application.

#### Intent of use

Kippu is underway a Proof of Concept implementing web2-based solutions to better understand the integration with the process organizers and sellers
have, while using Web3 components (like wallet accounts and signed transactions). After this, we expect to have even more insights to better understand
how these actors might use a Web3 solution and how to reduce the hassle of onboarding them through a decentralised protocol like *Ticketto*.

#### Previous Solutions

We know about another project [Grants-Program#690][gh:grant-690] with a similar idea in the Polkadot ecosystem. However, we're unsure whether they're still active,
nor have they released much information that leads us to learn.

In other ecosystems, we've seen other projects working with a similar approaches[[1]][eco:1] [[2]][eco:2] [[3]][eco:3], from which we've taken inspiration
for some desired features on a roadmap (like access with memberships, or crowdfunding for event organizers).

For technical details, we've inspired on OSS, such as [Pretix][link:pretix].

As part of the future roadmap (beyond this project, that'll help us to build a nice MVP and validate the protocol itself), we've seen potential to build a pallet extension for `pallet-nfts` so system chains (such as Asset Hub) and other parachains as well can benefit from extended use cases, such as: buying and selling using `fungibles` assets, and extend the model for auctions (that can be included in future versions of the protocol).
