NOAA’s National Weather Service would like to make its open-source weather.gov (http://www.weather.gov) data available to A.I. Personal Assistant technology to help users query weather forecasts, severe weather watches/warnings, and more. NWS data consists of a wide range of observed and forecasted weather and warning information for every location in the United States. A newly-developed, robust API can provide information that includes hourly forecast information for the entire U.S., observations from thousands of weather stations, and warning and alert information -- with detailed information on impacts.

We welcome a variety of A.I. Personal Assistant questions such as:

  • Question: "Alexa, what is the weather going to be like today for my area?"
  • Question: "Alexa, how hot is it going to be today?”
  • Question: "Alexa, how cold will it be today?
  • Question: "Alexa, is it going to rain today?”
  • Question: “Alexa, how much rain will we get today?”
  • Question: “Alexa, will I need an umbrella today?”
  • Question: "Alexa, how much snow will we get today? (This weekend?)”
  • Question: "Alexa, are we under a hurricane watch or warning?"
  • Question: “Alexa, are we under a tornado watch or warning?”
  • Question: “Alexa, is there a rip tide [current] warning/advisory for my beach today?”

And many more...
