Introduction

Haptics provide physical sensations to players in VR. While the handheld controllers can also vibrate to a certain extend, specialized hardware will intensify this sensation significantly.

Supported Devices

The following vendors are natively supported:

An amazing suite consisting of multiple devices. Supported are:

  • TactSuit: body
  • Tactosy: arms
  • Tactal: head

If some of the devices are not connected, the body/vest will be used instead.

Available Sensations

  • click (arms): using pointer in menu
  • collect (arms): collecting items in-game with hands
  • death (all): when dying
  • exit-found (all): when having found the exit of a world
  • falling (all): when falling from heights
  • health-critical (vest): when health is below 20%
  • impact-all (all): when hit by explosion
  • impact-arm (arms): when hit by projectile
  • impact-body (body): when hit by projectile
  • impact-head (head): when hit by projectile
  • melee (arms): when destroying targets with arms
  • pistol (arms + body): when shooting
  • reload (arms): reloading weapon
  • slowdown (arms): when initiating time slowdown (tbd)
  • startup (all): upon game start
  • world-loaded (all): after world has been loaded and player can start to walk

World builders can create custom haptic files to play when the player is hit.
