Quick Install via FTP with manual configuration of the config.cgi

This guide is specific to installing Melody using FTP and editing the config.cgi file with a text editor. More detailed installation guides are available.

First, check Getting Ready to Install for needed tools and preparatory steps.

Install Melody via FTP with Manual Configuration

1. Download the latest release of Melody: Melody if you haven't already.
2. Un-compress the downloaded melody-v1.x.zip (or melody-v1.x.tar.gz) archive. Usually just double-click on it.
3. Upload (or move) the static directory (melody-v1.x/mt-static) via FTP to the web root of the website.
4. Update permissions for mt-static/support directory to 755. More about file permissions.
5. Upload the application directory (melody-v1.x) without the static directory (melody-v1.x/mt-static) via FTP to the cgi-bin directory. Rename the application directory from "melody-v1.x" to "m ".
